Did you know sound recognition begins in the womb? Foundations classes are all about exploring and reacting to new sounds, objects, and movements. Plus, parents and caregivers heighten connections with their babies by learning bonding techniques.
The Foundations class is so much more than lullabies and swaying. We teach families how sound exploration, listening activities, and dances help babies communicate, stimulate eye-tracking skills, and learn to move and coordinate new muscles.
Elizabeth inherited a love of music from her dad who blasted Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, and Van Morrison on the “surround sound” he rigged up himself with wired speakers stretching through almost every room in her childhood home. He was in a band and filled the house with his guitar and harmonica playing. Elizabeth began her own musical journey playing alto saxophone in marching band and singing in choir throughout her school career in Russellville, AR. She graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with her MA in English. She became a middle and high school English teacher for 10 years and then found her way back to music when she signed up her daughter for Mrs. Joy’s foundations class. Being in kindermusik class with her daughter reminded her how much more fun life is with music. She’s thrilled to integrate her love of music and love of teaching into a job that also inspires her to be a more playful and present mom to her two children, Mitchell and Mackenzie.
