Must be 4 by September 1) Students explore many facets of music—speaking, singing, moving, listening, creating, playing instruments and learning about reading and writing music. Creative movement or dances are interspersed with quiet activities like focused listening. The curriculum introduces the thrill of the glockenspiel, a pre-keyboard instrument, and the wonder of string and woodwind instruments like the dulcimer and recorder. The capstone of Kindermusik, Young Child is the perfect pressure-free preparation for private instrumental instruction.
Through the 2-year program of instruction, your child will learn authentic wind, string and pre-keyboard instruments. Piano, violin and voice instructors report how "unbelievable" their Kindermusik students are in comparison to children who missed the Kindermusik opportunity.
Your child will begin their musical journey learning pre-keyboard techniques, hand-positioning, ensemble development, and vocal development. Because Young Child is concept-specific, children gain an understanding of rhythm, notation, musical symbols, music vocabulary, and composition, as well as music history and styles.
Kindermusik is designed with total child development in mind: cognitive, physical, social, emotional, language and musical development. As movement is the window to learning for your child, movement games and dances fill each class. That fun and learning is then related to more sophisticated musical, academic and social skills. Movement first is the way we do Kindermusik!
(Previously, this was called Young Child 1)

Ms. Pat has loves using music to help children learn, and loves the results of her work at Kindermusik where she sees children taking their ideas and translating thoughts into written music! Students who have completed the Kindermusik program with Ms. Pat are in demand with local private music teachers, too, because of their strong start in music. She loves to make music with others, whether at her church job where she is the Director of Traditional Worship, playing the organ and directing adult and children's choirs. Another outlet has been organizing a string quartet who play music with and for seniors at retirement homes. A Kindermusik educator for ten years, she also has a degree in music and has received the Maestro distinction from Kindermusik. She hopes you'll join her making music with your children through the songs and activities you learn at Kindermusik, and throughout your life with your family. Kindermusik is a great start in life, whether you're raising a musician or a mathematician or a mother. Join us for a class and stay through their early childhood. She says, "And don't wait too long, so I can remember your kids as babies, too!"
In every Kindermusik class, you’re welcomed into a playful and nurturing environment where your child will experience music of varying styles, genres, and cultures. They’ll interact with other children and engage in movement, rhythm, and vocal activities that develop far more than just music skills. Our approach to early childhood education and award-winning, research-based, and developmentally appropriate curricula prime children for success in school and in life.
