Managing Editor for Children’s Publishing Firm

KIDesign is the design, editorial, and product development wing of renowned company Kindermusik International, an employee-owned publisher of music and movement programs for children ages 0-7.

We are a small, friendly, hard-working group creating books, magazines, curricula, CDs, plush, toys, etc. for Kindermusik and other clients of excellent standing in the children’s print and product business – and are pleased to be looking for a dedicated, capable, career-minded, ambitious, adaptable, and cheerful new member of our team.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in publishing, editing, project management, and/or product development; be capable of working with in-house writers, editors, designers, art directors, music producers, and project managers, as well as managing multiple freelancers; and have a proven track record of overseeing multiple projects on tight deadlines, always with an employee-owner’s eye on smart decision-making, best quality, and budget. Strong writing and impeccable editing skills an absolute must.

Must also be capable of creating and overseeing production schedules and budgets; working cross-functionally with marketing and sales teams to finalize new product specifications; preparing professional client presentations and representing the company to external clients and potential clients; and communicating effectively at a distance: via email, videoconference, and phone communications, as well as in person.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required, graduate work a plus

The Position
Working in a team of five IT professionals and with three business-side development partners, A-players will excel in:

• Developing and enhancing web applications
• Customizing and automating complex business processes
• Integrating applications to provide true end-to-end processing

Qualifications
At Kindermusik International, your values, abilities, and track record of success are as important as direct experience. Ideal candidates will have the following:

• BA or BS degree
• 2 years professional experience in implementing a Microsoft solutions
• Visual Studio, C#, ASP.NET, SQL, VB.NET, XML web services, eConnect, SQL Server, ASP
• Microsoft Office applications
• Internet Development Technologies
• Experience with EAI tools such as Biztalk is beneficial Strong competencies in intellect (the ability to learn, understand, and innovate), personal skills (integrity, candor, excellence, etc.), and interpersonal skills (oral and written communication, customer service, etc.)
